Common questions

When We Can Come

Do you work weekends?

Weekday bookings are the norm, but a weekend slot is usually possible if you ask when you call. Anything genuinely urgent gets a response whatever day it is.

What happens after I call?

A local answers, not a queue. We'll ask a few questions about the job, lock in a time, and price it properly once we're standing in front of it.

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Total power loss, a burning smell, exposed or sparking wires, or a switchboard that trips and won't reset. Anything like that, ring straight away and we'll treat it as urgent.

How soon can you fit me in?

Often same or next day is the honest answer for most bookings around Rozelle. We'd rather tell you the real timeframe on the phone than promise something we can't deliver.

Common questions

Pricing and Quotes

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Never. Turning up to have a look and put a number on the job doesn't cost you anything, whether or not you go ahead.

What does "$50 off your first service" cover?

It's deducted from whatever your first invoice with us comes to, small job or large. Nothing to fill in and nothing to remember, it's just taken off.

Is the quote really free?

Yes, no catch. Someone attends, looks the job over properly, and writes up a fixed price for you before you decide whether to go ahead.

How do quotes work?

We look the job over, then set out a fixed written price before we start. Accept it and that's the number on the invoice, regardless of how the job actually runs on our side.

Common questions

Local Answers for Rozelle

Do you work on heritage/strata properties?

Often. Rozelle carries a lot of conservation-listed streetscape plus strata blocks nearer Victoria Road. Each brings its own approvals process we're familiar with before the first quote is even written.

What suburbs do you service?

Rozelle sits at the centre of our patch, with Balmain, Lilyfield, Leichhardt, Annandale and Haberfield all part of the regular run.

Can you handle new builds and renovations here?

Both, and they're different jobs. A new build gets a fresh board and circuit plan from the ground up, while a renovation usually means tracing what a previous owner did to wiring decades ago before we can add anything new.

Do you know Rozelle's housing stock?

It's a big part of the job. The streets here run heavily to period terraces, semis and old workers' cottages, with unit conversions steadily filling in between them, and each type throws up a different switchboard story.

Common questions

The Legal Stuff, Made Simple

What is AS/NZS 3000?

It's the national wiring rulebook every licensed electrician has to follow. It sets out how a circuit, board or safety device has to be installed for the job to actually be safe once we've left.

Are you licensed and insured?

We are, NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C and Master Electricians Australia membership included. Insurance is sorted too, and both can be checked independently if you'd like to see for yourself.

What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?

Think of it as a trip wire for electricity, it shuts a circuit down almost instantly if current starts going somewhere it shouldn't. A good number of Rozelle's older homes were built well before these were required and still don't have one.

Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?

You can't, beyond swapping a light globe or a plug top. Anything touching the wiring itself has to be carried out and signed off by someone licensed, no exceptions.
